Here’s the good news: We are not alone. Our God is in control, He is patient, loving, longsuffering and kind. He is all-knowing and His understanding is unsearchable. But He is also a jealous God and He fully expects us to serve Him, even in adversity. Though we are surrounded by the enemy, we must not forget that our battle isn’t with flesh and blood, but with the wicked powers of this dark world. Don’t get caught in combat unarmed:
Memorize scripture, you need to have a good reserve built up. (Psalm 13 is a good place to start!) Are you praying? Do you take time to study the Word of God, our sword, and spend personal time with Him? Remember that the Lord told Abraham he would not destroy Sodom and Gomorrah for the sake of ten righteous people. Be one of the ten! Reconsider watching movies and TV shows that promote evil. Remember that sexual immorality, vampires and wizards are not of God. Choose to not listen to music that glorifies ungodly behavior.
Be the light of the world...
Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. ~Ephesians 6:13-17
- Choose uplifting words instead of arguments.
- When you see the need, help someone.
- Hold a door open, be kind, smile.
- Be patient, even when someone is making mistakes at your expense.
- When you make bad choices, admit it, fix it, and turn away from it.
Psalm 13
How long wilt thou forget me, O Lord?
Forever? How long wilt thou hide thy face from me?
How long shall I take counsel in my soul,
having sorrow in my heart daily?
How long shall mine enemy be exalted over me?
Consider and hear me, O Lord my God:
lighten mine eyes, lest I sleep the sleep of death;
Lest mine enemy say, I have prevailed against him;
and those that trouble me rejoice when I am moved.
But I have trusted in thy mercy; my heart shall rejoice in thy salvation.
I will sing unto the Lord, because he hath dealt bountifully with me.
